Dreaming of Being Chased
Dreaming of being chased reveals something within you being avoided, and the more you flee, the more it returns.

What does it mean to dream of being chased?
Whoever gives chase in the dream is almost never someone from the outside world. More often, it is a part of yourself that has been denied or repressed. The more we reject something within us, the more power it accumulates, and the more relentlessly it resurfaces in our dreams.
The pursuer may take the form of a person, an animal, a monster. The shape it assumes is telling: an authority figure in pursuit speaks of rigid internal rules; an animal speaks of instincts you have deemed unacceptable.
How you respond matters as well. To flee without ceasing is often a mirror of how you navigate this kind of tension in waking life: through avoidance.
When you stop and face the pursuer within the dream, something shifts: monsters become comprehensible. This is the process of coming to terms with the part of yourself that once seemed threatening.
Common variations
Pursuit by a human figure
Being chased by a person often connects to a real conflict, or to a quality you deny in yourself yet readily perceive in others.
Pursuit by an animal
An animal giving chase reveals repressed instincts. The pursuit tends to cease once you accept that energy rather than continuing to refuse it.
Pursuit by an anonymous force
When the pursuer has no definite form (a shadow, a presence), the dream touches something older and more diffuse: a fear common to periods of generalized anxiety.
For reflection
If you stopped running and turned to face whoever pursues you in the dream, what would you see? What part of yourself have you been refusing to acknowledge: one that may only need to be met with attention in order to stop feeling like a threat?
